From the mill to the finished floor

What goes into a floor
  1. Hardwood logs stacked under sprinklers in a lumber mill yard

    Sourcing

We work closely with local certified mills, so the wood in your floor comes from an ethical and environmentally conscious process.

  2. A prepared wood subfloor with every seam filled and sanded flat

    Subfloor preparation

A floor can only be as flat and as quiet as what lies beneath it, so this is where the work begins.

  3. Overhead view of wide planks with natural knots and grain

    Acclimation

Wood moves with moisture. Boards and house come into balance before anything goes down.

  4. A floor sander standing on a freshly sanded pale floor in an open room

    Sanding passes

Each pass removes the marks of the last. Raking light is what shows whether a pass was rushed.

  5. Finish samples laid out side by side on a sanded floor

    Finish systems

Color, sheen and protection are chosen together, from custom finishes to penetrating oils, on samples in your own light.

  6. A woven lattice floor in two tones of wood, seen up close

    Detail work

Borders, transitions, vents and stairs get the same hands as the open floor.

  7. Hardwood stair treads and risers with knots and character

    Warranty backing

Material manufacturers underwrite our projects, so there is more behind your floor than our word.

The portfolio shows what clients asked for. It doesn't show the limit.

We design, build, install and finish parquet, inlays, patterns and custom finishes. Bring us the idea you assumed nobody would build.

We also resand existing hardwood.

The floor you already have may only need bringing back. The old finish and the wear come off, the wood comes up clean, and we finish it again, with the same hands and the same NWFA sand and finish certification.

Titus learned from European tradesmen in Chicago.

He started the company over 25 years ago. His son Naum grew up in the trade, studied business and chemistry, and is now his partner. A couple of long-time helpers work beside them.

What clients told us

“We’ve had the pleasure of working with Para Flooring twice, ten years apart, and both experiences were wonderful. The first time, we worked primarily with Titus; more recently, with his son Naum. A decade later, the same craftsmanship, care, and professionalism were still there.

There’s something special about working with people who take such pride in their craft. From Titus’s hilarious stories to the care they took with our floors and our 140-year-old Victorian home, the experience felt personal from start to finish. They bring an old-world craftsmanship that’s hard to find, and we couldn’t be happier with their work. When we need flooring work again, we know exactly who we’ll call.”

Kevin & Rayna Hinson

“Naum and his Dad, Titus, were our absolute favorite subs on our entire project. Their professionalism, rich knowledge and experience with flooring, and customer-first posture from our very first meeting set them apart from anyone else we’ve worked with. That all carried through every step in the process including giving us many sample visuals to decide from (6 different stains and sealer combinations)! Then the install, which was equally exceptional, detailed and customized in every way. They were tidy on the job site and thoroughly communicative regarding what to expect. Our floors are the heart of our home and will be for decades to come based on their incredible care and craftsmanship. Truly feel so lucky to have had them on our job and cannot praise and recommend Naum and the Para Flooring crew enough!”

Aleigh Sanchez

“I have had an amazing experience over the ten years that I have known Titus and his son Naum. They are very honest, knowledgeable, dependable, and their quality of work is outstanding. I have had them work on multiple flooring projects. I highly recommend Titus and Naum.”

Ruthie Cook

“We have used Para flooring for almost 15 years. They are a true team and provide exceptional service and quality work.”

McFarland Construction

“Para Flooring did an exceptional job with our flooring project - sanding and refinishing approx 6,000 sq ft of walnut floors with significant damage from our dogs' toenails. They took great care to help us choose the color and finish, providing us with samples in several different rooms, and we did need to adjust after that. They worked cleanly and meticulously, even finishing a little earlier than projected. Outstanding customer service - Titus and Naum made sure that we were satisfied every step of the way, and we would use them again in a heartbeat! We love our refinished floors! They were not the low bid for our job, but we believe they were worth every penny! And they love dogs!”

Jon and Angie Cohen

“Over multiple projects in recent years, have found Para Flooring to be the single most reliable, professional, and skilled group we have ever worked with. Others in the industry view their work as a commodity – pushing jobs through as quickly as possible without a long-term view of quality and durability. But this kind of work is more art than science – and Para has the pride and skill of craftsmen who communicate knowledgeably and deeply understand the work and how it matters in the lives of the people with whom they engage. Highest possible recommendation!”
